“There’s been a real move toward craftsmanship and finish this year.” Her observation was borne out by the carefully crafted feel of finalist Alex Huang, from the Parsons School of Design, who drew on the 1950s illustrations of René Bouché, creating chiffons and tweeds with the airy, unfinished feel of a designer’s sketch.
